Awfully {Over} Active and Bring on the Babies

Morning and happy Monday friends. I hope y'all had a great weekend. Mine started of a bit rocky [and also very happy] but overall it was a pretty awesome weekend. It was an awfully overactive weekend and I'm still paying for it right now, but I have to admit I'm thankful that my body didn't give out on me.

It all started Thursday night when I subbed for my old outdoor soccer team. I was told I would be the extra sub, but when I showed up turns out there was no sub and that meant playing the whole game in the spitting rain #superfunsike. Friday morning I felt a bit off but figured it was just allergies and lack of sleep because I was waiting for a #superimportant phone call. I didn't eat much, came home took a nap then gathered my strength for an indoor soccer game. We had a sub and it felt great getting my sweat on but afterwards I was wiped out. Which wasn't a good thing as Le Husband and I had a hike planned at our favorite mountain, Old Rag.

We woke up a bit late on Saturday morning and even though I didn't feel well we headed out west to start our hike. It's a bit of a drive but we both wanted to get away from the craziness of the city during Cherry Blossom weekend. The mountain was a bit more crowded than we expected but overall it wasn't nearly as crazy as the city. What was crazy was my lack of ability to hike.

Y'all, this hike was awful. Normally I'm an in shape above average active person. Hiking takes endurance and I've hiked much more intense mountains than Old Rag [Alaska and Banff, Canada], but Saturday just the walk UP to the start of the trail was tough. I'm not normally a big sweater [sorry if that's a TMI] but 15 minutes into our hike was drench on my back and under my hat and stayed drenched the entire hike. Le Husband asked me a few times if I was okay because he wasn't used to seeing me so flushed and even asked if I wanted to turn back but of course I said no. We were there and I wasn't about to let a mountain beat me. We ended up taking more breaks then normal and I went through more water than usual but in the end we made it!

This view made it all worth it, though. Looking down from the top of any mountain is awesome, because the world looks so peaceful and beautiful. I love hiking Old Rag and the view never fails to take my breath away.

The joyful warrior in me rejoiced when we reached the open area right below the summit. I was so thankful my body and mind didn't let me quit and that I was able to push through the fatigue to reach my goal. This was the hardest hike I've ever done which really frustrated me at the beginning. But when I realized everything I had going against me [being sick, very little energy from lack of calories, sore legs from two soccer games and allergies] the fact I was able to complete the hike was enough for me. #yogaonamountain #yogi #joyfulwarrior

So glad I had this guy with me to cheer me on when I started to feel really yucky. I tried to keep how poor I felt to myself because I really wanted him to enjoy the hike. He's a pretty awesome tripod setter upper and picture taker, too.

This was me when we finally reached the actual summit. Exhausted and ready for a rest. I was so thankful I made it up the mountain and so proud of myself for pushing through the hike. Normally hiking is easy for me but this was SO.TOUGH!

On our way down the mountain we found this beautiful stream and stopped for a quick picture. It was a bit of a tricky place to navigate and I'm super thankful for my extremely athletic husband. We almost had a slip because I made him laugh, but luckily we both stayed dry and didn't fall into the stream.

I may not be a great photographer, but I loved the way these came out. The stream looks powerful, the colors scream the rebirth of spring and tree bridges are so cool. #naturepicturesmakemesmile

Saturday night on our drive home we found a delicious BBQ joint where were stuffed ourself silly before we headed home. I was absolutely wiped out so it was a bath and then a quick show then bedtime for lil Miss Pinky. Y'all, I was so exhausted I slept for TWELEVE hours and still felt a bit off, blah.

Sunday was spent doing taxes, grocery shopping, island building and of course resting. Hopefully whatever I have will hit the road because I do NOT want to spend my birthday sick. #nothankyou.

Speaking of birthdays, this weekend there were a lot of births happening with blog friends. Three of my beautiful friends all went into labor and birthed three GORGEOUS lil girls. I of course will let them all share their news in good time, because that 's not my place, but I am so thankful for successful and healthy births that I wanted to acknowledge the joy.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun?

As much as I would have hated to do it, I probably would have backed out of the hike, ha ha. It looks absolutely gorgeous though!! I miss hiking! I need to find some places in AZ asap! (Although, they may have to wait until "winter" (do they have that here?) because it's already so stinking warm.

  16. What a tough cookie you are. On top of a mountain not feeling good. You would have found me making it from the bedroom to the living room & calling it a day.
