Thoughts on a Thursday

1] I'm getting married!!!!! I'm getting married!!!! I'm getting married!!!

2] I'm worried about becoming the 'I'm getting married girl'! I know it's only been less than two weeks, but I feel like the only thing on my brain is wedding stuff. I promise this blog won't become all wedding, but there will definitely be documentation and venting when needed ;)!

3] This blog is such a blessing. I know it's small, but the friendships I've formed from it are so amazing. I was SO excited to share my engagement news with the blogesphere. THANK YOU for all of the sweet emails and comments, y'all truly made my day/week.

4] Speaking of happy news in blogland, I'm SO GLAD a certain CLO has finally shared hers! #spicy!

5] My trip to Florida this past weekend [recap on Monday] was so amazing. But, the warm weather has made me extra susceptible to the cold here. #IWANTSUMMERNOW!

6] Le rear needs to get in le gear!!! Workouts have fallen by the wayside recently and now I need to get back on track. Not only do I have a wedding to be in shape for [!] I signed up for the Tough Mudder in April. I'm determined to do better than last race and kick @$$ this time.

7] This weekend we are celebrating Sportyspice's birthday and I'm super excited. She turned 27 on Tuesday, holy frijoles where did the time go?!?!? < 3 you sissyboo!

8] Why oh why did the crafty gene skip me?!?! I'm trying to put together a cute lil summin' summin' for my bridal party, but I'm 12 kinds of nervous it won't come out correctly. Pray for me hokay?

9] Life is amazing! :)

WILW WEDDING ADDITION

Hello ladies and happy Wednesday!

I thought I'd bring back an old favorite today,
say hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
Linking up with JAIME
It's been a HOT minute since I last linked up with Jaime, but thought
this week of all weeks was the perfect time to count
my blessings and loves.

I'm loving. . .

My Fiance! I still can't believe he's not my boyfriend....eeek!

My wonderful family and all of the work they did
to make my proposal so magical.

MY RING!

The fact that my secret wedding board is NO LONGER a secret.

The slight tan I got from a quick weekend in Florida.

My two sisters! They were so amazing working with C to plan the proposal.
Planning my wedding with them is going to be so wonderful!

How easily C and I are agreeing on wedding plans. #nostress

The sweet emails, texts, comments, and Facebook post from friends
and family. I am soooooooo blessed!

 That I'm getting married!!!!!! WOOHOOO!

I'm GETTING MARRRIIIEEDD!!!!!!

Yes, you read that right,
I'm the FUTURE MRS. C!!!!

He proposed Sunday, February 17th
and I am over the moon excited!

We have definitely been talking about getting engaged
and then married,
but he TOTALLY caught me
by surprise

I couldn't have asked for a more perfect proposal.

I'm going to recap everything, because I NEVER
want to forget how I felt, so this will be
a tad bit long.

Backstory:
He has been working with my sisters for the past three months,
creating the ring and talking about how
he planned to propose.

I play in a soccer league on Sunday nights
and every now and then we have games later
in the evening and if we have subs, I'll sit them out.

Well, on the 17th I had an 8pm game,
that I DID NOT want to play in at all.
Unfortunately, we didn't have any girl subs
and my captain said I was needed.
Being the team player I am, I put on my big girl shorts,
went to the game, hung out with my mom, won then came home.

Backstory:
C and my sister's had TOLD my captain I HAD to be at the game
no matter what, so he didn't try and find a sub.
During the game, they were all decorating C's apartment.

I went back to my apartment after my game,
to drop off my stuff before walking to C's
to hang out before bed.

When I walked into my place, there was a single RED rose
laying on my coffee table.

Now, I'm sure many of you would say,
OH MY GOSH I KNOW WHAT'S happening!

Nope, not this girl.

I walked around my apartment checking
out all the rooms, thinking C was just being funny,
and trying to cheer me up because I didn't
want to play in a soccer game.

No C at my place, so I walked to his.

I opened the door and I knew.

The lights were off, candles were lit and
displayed in hearts, pink tulle was on the furniture
and there were hearts everywhere.
I looked down and there were fake rose petals on the floor
and then I saw the coffee table with the dozen roses.

I think I lost my breath for a moment.

I walked in and whispered
"What is this?!?!"

C appeared from the kitchen
and from then on everything was a haze.

He said some of the sweetest words,
told me how he asked my father for my hand,
where and how he got my ring,
and how everyone in my family
KNEW about this.
[there may have been a slight
temper tantrum when
I found that out, shhhh]

The whole time we were hugging and standing together
and it was all I could do to focus on what he was saying.
I can vividly remember thinking
"Oh my gosh this is happening,
this is REALLY happening!"

And then, he walked over to the beautiful table,
picked up the ring,
got down on one knee and
asked me to marry him.

I wanted to shout "YES",
but I think I barely whispered "Yes".

Then it was on my finger,
and I became an ENGAGED LADY!

Once the proposal was over,
I said "I'm in sweatpants"
and we both laughed.
SO US! So flippin' us!

I don't remember how, but my sisters were mentioned
and after being coy, he told me
that THEY WERE HIDING
OUTSIDE THE APARTMENT
and were waiting for me to come get them.

OH MY WORD, so special.

The moment was already perfect, but
having them there to celebrate with immediately
meant the WORLD TO ME!

We spent the rest of the evening calling
immediate family and best friends
while sipping champagne.

It was so magical and special,
just truly an amazing moment.

AND one that I can relive over and over
as the sissys were SUPER smart and
set up a video camera for the whole thing.

That's right, I have the whole proposal on video
along with some stop action pictures too.

Totally amazing!

Now on to the most important thing,
after the word YES of course...

My beautiful, beautiful RING!

I had told him I wanted a vintage ring,
and y'all he 'did vintage'.

He started scheming with my sisters back in December,
about rings and they told him about
the three rings my late grandmother
had given us.

Through conference calls, they decided
which one fit me best.
He took the band, changed the setting a bit
and added a new diamond.

KNOCKED IT
OUT!OF!THE!PARK!
[cause he's a baseball guy duh]

 Having my grandmother's ring is
SO SPECIAL!
When she passed away five years ago,
one of my biggest regrets was
the fact she would NEVER see me get married.

BUT NOW, she will be there for the moment
and forever and I'm still
teary eyed thinking about it.

********************

I've seriously been on CLOUD NINE the past week.
Monday morning at work was a haze of
congratulations, texts, phone calls and gchats.

Honestly, the smile has yet to leave my face all week.

God has blessed me with an amazing life,
and He has given me my very OWN
FAIRY TALE!

His timing is TRUE, never doubt it ladies,
never doubt it EVER!

I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!!

Stop Hunger Now

Saturday morning Daddy, Mama B, BabySpice and I
all volunteered at our church for
the Stop Hunger Now drive.
Thanks Babyspice!
"Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world. The organization is driven by a vision of a world without hunger and a mission to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-saving aid to the world's most vulnerable and by creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources."

Stop Hunger Now meals pack a big punch. Every dehydrated rice/soy meal is fortified with 21 essential vitamins and nutrients. Research has shown that one in three people in developing countries are adversely affected by vitamin and mineral deficiencies."

There was over a hundred people volunteering
on Saturday which made for an
AWESOME missions experience.

My first station was 'bag holder' while others
dumped in vitamins, dehydrated vegetables, soy meal and rice
through a funnel.

It was a lot of fun and after the first twenty bags
we had it down to a pretty good science.

Unfortunately, the soy meal was constantly drifting
into the air and bothering my nose.

So after an hour or so, I moved to the sealing station.

That was a very fast moving and fun station.
I was also able to work with Daddy and Babyspice,
which made it that much more fun.

I think I worked the weighing station twice,
but then decided to become a runner
because yeah, I HATE MATH!

I helped run the sealed packages
to the actual packing station so I got
some exercise in too.

Over the course of three hours
our whole group packaged
44,000 meals!!!

FORTY
FOUR
THOUSAND!!!!!!!!

It was an incredibly rewarding morning
and I just pray all of those meals
make it to hungry tummies soon.

If you are ever asked to volunteer with
Stop Hunger Now, DO IT! :)

Firsts

This list has been floating around blogesphere for awhile,
and I finally decided to dig it out of my
draft archives and publish it.

I hope you enjoy and if you haven't
tried it yet, DO IT NOW!

*********************Firsts*********************

FIRST thing I do in the morning
Turn off the alarm, grab a drink of water, turn on the Keruig.

FIRST thing I do when I get home from work
Change out of work clothes and put on sweats or workout clothes.

My FIRST Kiss
I don't remember my first kiss as a kid, but my first real kiss was in high school.
Late bloomer over here.

My FIRST home
We lived on post in El Paso when I was born.

My FIRST car
1998 Toyota Corolla was the first car that was 'mine', but Daddy bought it before he left for Korea. The first car I bought by myself is the current car I drive, a 2012 Nissan Altima Coupe named Sassy. I LOVE HER!

My FIRST accident traffic violation
I actually had a fender bender three months after I received my license, but never told my parents. The lady didn't have the time to deal with it and since there was no damage, she just drove off. My first legit violation was a speeding ticket driving home from my college bf's home during Christmas break.

The FIRST thing I wanted to be when I grew up
The President of the United States

FIRST drink of choice
Regular drink: probably water or sweet tea. Alcoholic drink: wine.

FIRST dessert of choice
Hmmm so hard. . . anything with chocolate in it. Or ice cream.

FIRST choice restaurant
Oh snap, no idea. Depending on my mood,
something really classy and romantic
or a great Mexican restaurant with sangria and guacamole.
FIRST song that comes to mind
Drop it Drop it LOW GUUUUUUUUUURL

FIRST major purchase
My 7 piece bedroom set. I LOVE IT!

FIRST job
Does babysitting count? That was my first job ever. My first job in the real world was a temp. It wasn't the best thing in the world, but it gave me a ton of freedom to make my own work days and take fun trips.

FIRST time I flew
I can't honestly remember my first flight, but I do remember going on a plane in third grade for my great-grandmother's funeral in Wisconsin.

FIRST "Big girl" job
My temp job became a REAL job and I was an administrative assistant at a law firm. The work was boring but the ladies were great and knew I was using this job as a stepping stone to my current job. Working for a small firm was fantastic, it paid the bills and we had pretty decent vacation time.

Fierce Fashion and Confessions

Another Friday so another link up with Kelly for

This week I'm taking on:

To be honest, when the whole 'print mixing' fad started,
I thought it was pretty fugly.

I'm all about clean lines
and mixing prints just didn't do it for me.

However, when I realized this fad WASN'T going away,
I decided to give it a whirl, just for kicks.

My first attempt at mixing prints.
Pink striped blazer paired with spotted black/white skirt.
Yes? No? SAY WHAT!?!?

I haven't mixed any patterns since the summer,
so I thought I'd try it again for this link up.

My mixed print outfit on Wednesday.

Granted, they were both stripes, just different types.

I normally wouldn't have paired these prints together,
because they weren't aligned,
but I stepped slightly out of my comfort zone
and tried it anyway.

So, what do you think?
Yes, no?
Any mixing print tips?

**********************************************

I'm also linking up with Leslie for Confession Fridays!

1] I've wore my hair in my pony tail 3 times this week, because I haven't washed my  hair. Ehh, what are you going to do? I prefer the extra 20 minutes of sleep to looking cute ;)

2]  C and I have yet to make it up for a morning workout this week. What, we've both been really tired and I guessing really needed the sleep.

3] I recently started watching Army Wives from the beginning and I'm ashamed to say I like the show. I know it's soooo off base portraying military life, but the characters are kind of fun.

4]The #SOTU wasn't even on my radar this year. #boopolitics.

5] I bought two pairs of shoes yesterday that I didn't need, just because they were pink. #budgetwhatbudget.

HAPPY FRIDAY LOVES!

Happy Valentine's Day loves!

...your family...
...your girlfriends...
...your best friends...
...your coworkers...
...your parents...

...get a pedicure...take a bubble bath...put on a girlie movie...tell your friends and family how much they mean to you...get drinks with your girlfriends...tell bad dating stories...celebrate being able to do WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO...

If you are attached:
...write a sweet note...don't set expectations to high...tell your friends and family how much they mean to you...take a moment to be thankful for the special S/O in your life...tell them how much you care...enjoy the small and simple things your relationship has to offer...

Today I am a lover!
