8 FEARS!

{one}snakes!!!! I hate them I hate them I hate them! Scare the beggibeies out of me!

{two}walking outside in the dark! even though my parent's neighborhood is safe, I still get spooked when I have to walk the dog at night.

{three}getting fat! I am sorry if this is rude but I've been tiny my whole life. Gaining more than 5 pounds (unless prego) is one of my bigger fears.

{four}being still at my current job when I turn 30! I want to do something else but don't know how or if I will have the courage to leave.

{five}Never getting married or having my own family.

{six}not having fun at my 10 year HS reunion next month. I wasn't super popular in HS and since I am not where I thought I would be in life I'm scared of feeling unworthy next to class mates.

{seven}not making a difference in the world. I want to do something significant I really do!

{eight}ending up alone...HUGE FEAR OF MINE!

Miscellany Plus

I'm linking up once again for Miscellany Mondays @lowercase letters!

O-n-e: The week of natural disasters is over thank goodness. I survived hurricane Irene this weekend with NO DRAMA! For Rizzle ya'll. I bought the water, food, drinks, batteries and EVERYTHING and NOTHING HAPPENED at my apartment. C and Sportyspice stayed the night at my place and we watched marathons of NCIS broken up by the weather channel. I have alittle survivor remorse because A TON of people don't have power still today and I didn't experience any problems. Check out this article for the damage control state by state.

T-W-O: If you were in DC yesterday and didn't lose power you wouldn't have KNOWN a hurricane happened...well more in NOVA than DC I guess. I went out with Sportyspice and her old roommate and we had Mexican and cupcakes and went shopping because the weathywas gorgey!

T-H-R-E-E: I drank mimosas, margaritas and sangria yesterday...which was Sunday!

F-O-U-R: My favorite new song is "Booty Work"...sad right?

F-I-V-E: Today marks the 6th year anniversary of hurricane Katrina and NO ONE seems to care. That makes me IRATE! I have done 5 mission trips to Gulfport, MS and 1 to New Orleans and there is SOOOO SOOO Much more work to do. People care more about the VMAS and Jersey Shore than their fellow Americans suffering...so sad!

Hurricane a'commin'!!

"Stand fast! Secure the riggin'!!!!!!"

Can anyone name that movie?!?!? Anyone??!?! Suuuurrriously ya'll, if you can't you MUST turn in your girlie girl card...or your DISNEY CARD!!!!

Answer: Little Mermaid chickees, in case you didn't know!

Yes, we are battenin' down the hatches and securing the riggin' (what is riggin? is it rope? Guess I can turn in my dream of being a first mate or a plain ole sailor)! Moving on....

Well ya'll Hurricane Irene is heading this way and us DC peeps are preparing and hanging out waiting for the storm. Most people are comparing this to Hurricane Isobel but I was in college when that POS hit. We didn't suffer much damage down in my area, unless you count our livers. Yeppers we threw ONE HELL of a hurricane party. Ok, we didn't throw it, we just attend one and man was it intense. Since we couldn't practice the next day all the soccer gals decided to party party party to our hearts content. Since we lived in the dorms we couldn't throw our own party, because we all weren't 21 at the time. Our dorm was on lock down and we were told "Once you leave the building we won't let you back in".

Sooooo long bishes, it's party time. My soccer girls drove to T's college boyfriend's apartment and we got our drink on. I can't remember how many different apartments we visited or what all we drank but I know it was a blast. We all wore our "GET BIG WOOD" soccer shirts (I'll explain that later heehee)hats, sweatshirts and jeans which was so awesome to party in. I'm not trying to be cocky but we CAH-RASHED every party we went too and most of the other girls hated us. Ooops!

I don't remember everything but I do remember I started a dance party on someones living room table (SO SORRY! I would have kicked my hiney...sorry). I was known for breaking.it.down anywhere we went so this was nothing new. I don't drink beer so I must have had waaaaaaaay to many mixed drinks and shots (from training room Gatorade water bottles). I have some KILLER pictures that I will NOT be posting, but it was an amazing amazing time. I remember sneaking back in way late night slash early morning and passing out forever. It was a great time and I kind of wish I could do the same thing now.

Too bad my body won't let me, and I don't want to be stuck away from my comfy bed. Such a baby I know. So for now it's alittle mall time with SportySpice and then mimosas and cuddle time with my baby boo bear C. I hope all East Coasters are being safe, praying for you! And everyone else please send prayers for everyone's safety. After working down in Gulfport and New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina I will NEVER ignore a hurricane warning and neither should you.

Soapbox over! Love love love and smiles! xoxo

EARTH SHAKE!!!!

HOLY MOLY FRIJOLES!!!! I just experienced a 5.9 earthquake here in DC while at work.

That's right, the east coast had an EARTHQUAKE!!! People felt the power in DC, VA, NC, NY, SC, OH and KY! (My bloggie buddy Jess felt it in KY and responded to my Facebook post...how sweet and cute).

I was just sitting at my desk when I felt some vibrations and hear a slight rumbling which actually is common because of construction. But then the shaking became greater and the rumbling got louder and things started moving on my desk. I froze for a few seconds thinking "is this an earth quake" and then DOVE under my desk per being taught in 5th grade. (Sportyspice told me afterwards that is now wrong...go to the doorways instead...ooops) While under my desk I felt everything shaking and watched as my coffee cup fell off the desk to the floor. All I could think was "Am I in a movie? Is this really happening? Will it ever stop?" Once it stopped everyone started talking at once (the office was DEAD SILENT when the earthquake hit) and coming out of their desks.

Immediately I grabbed my phone to text my family since I knew there would be wide spread panic and the lines would be done. Wanna know the second thing I did...CHECKED FACEBOOK and posted OMG EARTHQUAKE!!!!! I also wanted to see if anyone else experienced the earthquake too. How INSANE IN THE MEMBRANE is it that I was checking a social media instead of the news networks for confirmation??!?!? Moving on.

We were required to evacuate the building and EVERYONE was outside on their cellphones trying to reach loved ones. But, reminicent of 9/11 no one was able to get through. I would think they would have known that, and I told people to just text because all of mine went through. I got confirmation everyone in my family was okay which eased my mind. Poor BabySpice was down in the RIC and was miss-informed the epicenter was in DC. Luckily I was able to get on gchat and ease her nerves.
So far there hasn't been severe damage but this is what I gathered from a news story:

"The quake even broke a water main inside the Pentagon, flooding parts of two floors, NBC reported. Initial damage reports from Washington included the central tower at the National Cathedral and Ecuador's embassy. Three pinnacles on the 30-story-tall tower broke off.
Centered some 90 miles south of the nation's capital, the quake was a magnitude 5.9, the U.S. Geological Survey said. Two nuclear reactors near the epicenter were taken offline as a precaution, officials said. No damage was reported at either "

Right now I am still feeling the aftershock (no pun intended) of adrenaline. My body is just on high alert right now. I am thanking God above for the safety of my friends and family and for the so far lack of injury to anyone. Thank you Lord for keeping people sane, I know this could have been much much worse since the East coast is not use to this type of natural disater.

Miscellany Mondays slash WEEK!

I'm linking up @lowercase letters for another miscellany monday. However, this is gonna be my MISCELLANY WEEK FROM HADES!

If you have been following my blog at all (HI and THANKS) you will note that the past 2 weeks have been insane because of work. Not because of a case load but because of contract negotiations between the union and my company (not going to say names but if you watch/read the news you'll know who I work for). I am not union and when they went on strike all management employees were required to work 12 hr days 6 days a week until negotiations were reached. This also meant that certain people were 'deployed' into the work force to take over the union members jobs until they came back. As of tomorrow union works will be coming back to work and life should get back to normal for everyone. But here are the miscellany happenings that were my week.

1)I was told I was a retained employee and would just be working in the office if the strike happened. Awesomeness, I like the people I work with and they had food brought in for meals. Thumbs up from me!

2)SIKE OUT!!!! At the beginning of week 2 a group of employees including myself were told we were part of the second wave to be sent out since we had previous strike training. SAY WHAT!?!?! But okay, I was ready to go on Thursday and then BOOM sike #2 they thought we were ready to be deployed with now training...yeah right. I mean I love climbing poles and all but I'm gonna need a refresher on installs. So it was back to the office for 12 hr days

3)While I waited I was in a miscellany state of mind. I decided to QC some of my favorite content. How awesome is my job sometimes?!?!? Watching two of my favoritest movies will working on different projects....YAY!

4)DC had a 9/11 commemorative motorcycle ride on Friday and it was pretty cool. Since I was IN the office a group of us snuck away to per through the fence to the interstate. It was really awesome to watch!

5)I received my new assignment late Friday afternoon (3pm would be late normally but since I was working till 7 it was NBD). Training up in MD then deployed out in PG county (yep, that PG county) working on Racks! (Why can't I say racks without singing that song "racks on racks on racks" ?!?!) But, then Saturday I got a call saying negotiations were back in place and we were to report to the office for our last 12 day, so no RACKSonRACKSonRACKS!!!

6)Talk around town was the strike would be lasting for months (YIKES) so before I left on Friday I did some "What I will buy with all my extra $$$" shopping. And came across this beauty....siggggggggggggggh! Now it's more of a dream since I won't be getting overtime after today.... BOOOOOOO!

7)I think I used the phrase Insane in the Membrane 2304830 times last week.

8)Did anyone else have issues with blogger this weekend? I had to repost my recaps 4 times to get the formatting correct. UGH talk about BOOTLEG!

9)How INSANE is THIS article about 'Toddlers and Tiaras'?!?! I was so intrigued by the JonBenet saga and I STILL think her parents did it.

10)My first real dinner last week was Friday night when C made me dinner. Seriously I was so stressed and exhausted all I had for dinner was a glass of wine. There goes my easy/free weight loss plan!

I hope everyone has a great week! xoxo

Brothers times 2 part Deux

Now we get to the camera pics....huzzah! And more of the recap too. Basically my mother had the whole week packed with things to do. The boys stepped off the plane and we went to the Nats vs Cubbies game that night. They had a great time and so did the family. C came as well since this was his friend's team and he was in straight baseball boy mode. I wanted him to teach Sportyspice and me how to score and count stats but he was NOT in a patient mood. So she and I made it up and had a great time.

We all had a fun time at the game, as evidence below!

Me and my pretty MAMA B!

Oh hey boyzzzzzzzzzzzz

The boys came to watch my kickball tournament which was awesome. They were making fun of me until they saw how the game actually was played. And later in the week we took them to the batting cages and they tried to play kickball....C pitched to them with now mercy and they had MAD respect after that which was awesome.
In front of the Washington Monument

How Patriotic

All those kids wanted to do was play on the iphones

C gave everyone batting lessons in the cage. The boys did really well and it was cool observing C in his coaching habitat. Sportyspice, Mama B and I jumped in too...I wasn't very good though!

It was a super fun week, but an exhausting one! I love my lil cousins, but having Baskin Robbins every night is NOT something good for Miss Pinky! It was sad to see them go and I miss them a lot. I enjoyed the lil tykes for the week, but am prasing the LAWD I only had 2 lil sisters...haha!
YUMMMM ICE CREAM!

MAMA B and the adopted son

SportySpice and RK
