Alaska Cruising: Day 2 {Wanderlust Wednesday}

Oh vacations, how I love thee! Today for Wanderlust Wednesday I thought I'd continue with my Alaska recaps [yes, a year later, I KNOW]. *Here* is my most recent recap and you can check out my other recaps *here {day2}* and *here {day1}*. Okay, now on to our first full day of the cruise which was a fulld day at sea.

Our morning started off with a massage and it was GLORIOUS! It meant we kind of missed a full breakfast but after so many days of travel it was nice to relax and be pampered. Everyone did their own thing for lunch and then we all met up at the sports bar on the ship to watch the USA play in the world cup. The bar was packed and despite the loss it was great cheering on our team with other USA soccer fans. Technology is amazing right?
Sportyspice sporting her RED WHITE AND BLUE. Bummer we didn't get a family picture.

The rest of the day was quite relaxing as it was a sea day without a port. But, we weren't bored, oh no! Our ship navigated us to the Hubbard Glacier, which was incredibly gorgeous and majestic. People were freaking out trying to get pictures on the top of the ship, but what they didn't know was the boat had a planned 360 turn so everyone would be able to see the glacier. I'm really glad the crew planned this because it made the sight seeing a lot less stressful. It was pretty chilly on the top of the boat so Le Husband and I went back to our room to wait for the glacier to come into view [we all upgraded to a deck room for this purpose and I highly suggest it for any Alaskan cruise. 100% worth the extra money]. My family braved the temps so you'll see two groups of pictures below, some with them and some with just me and Le Husband.

I can NOT get enough of this view. I wish I could see it every day, our world is so beautiful! I love all the shades of blue and the fact that many of the clouds look so perfect they seem fake.

After the glacier viewing it was time to head back to the rooms and freshen up before dinner at one of the ship's restaurants. Norwegian doesn't do assigned dinner seating or times [which I was actually bummed about] so it's kind of a come as you can or make a reservation kind of system. Mama B went early to get in line since lobster was one of the main courses. It was a delicious meal, with MANY lobster tails and a few fabulous glasses of wine.

We ate earlier in the evening so we could get to the evening hypnotist show. I have to tell you before this show I was a huge skeptic and honestly wasn't excited about it in the beginning. I firmly believed people are plants and just were great actors. Well after this show I have to say I'm a skeptic no more, it was insane how people were manipulated. Luckily it was a family show so there wasn't anything inappropriate, but I still laughed until my sides hurt. The show was fantastic!

Le Husband was not excited about the elephant reenactment haha. It was quite comical leaving the show with T-Bone because a ton of people recognized him from the night before on stage. Oh the life of a celebrity.

While we were leaving we heard a commotion on deck and low and behold a beautiful rainbow was peeking out from the ocean. It was so gorgeous we had to take a sister picture and don't we look like angels ;)?

Silly rainbow head!

A bunny rabbit greeted us in our rooms and it was time to relax with a [secret] glass of wine and wind down from our first day at sea. WE all needed to rest of up before our first excursion day in Icy Strait.

  9. i would love to do an alaska cruise but is the boat crowded? that's the only thing stopping us from crusing - the crowds and social aspect because we are very anti-social people when we vacay (it's awful, i know)...but damn, THOSE VIEWS. amazing.

  13. Absolutely gorgeous pics gurlie! Alaskan cruises are waaaay up there on my list of what I'd love to do next. And I'm so glad to hear someone else say they're not a fan of Norwegian's Freestyle Dining. I prefer to go to dinner and sit at the same table with the same waitstaff every night. I love how your servers get to know you throughout the trip. And I'm a girl so I love dressing up for formal nights ;-)

  24. Oh, Alaska! I want to go back too. It's been 7 years since we've been. I loved seeing it by cruise ship as well. I do want to go to McKinley sometime though. I'm glad you shared pics of the glaciers in the sunlight. We were there on a very cloudy, dreary July day, so our pictures weren't nearly as fabulous. It was gorgeous, but not in the same way it is with the sun reflecting off of everything.
