Fly High, Super Teddy

While most people were sipping margarita's and eating guar and chips this past Cinco de Mayo, Alex and Mary Fish were tasked with saying goodbye to their beautiful and precious lil boy, Teddy Fish. That sweet lil boy, is no longer hurting, but is flying high with his super cape in Heaven. I'm glad he is no longer hurting, but I'm incredibly heartbroken for his parents.

I've posted about Teddy before, and have kept up with Mary's online journal. She is a fighter and her writing is incredible moving and sad. You feel her pain and her anger. She knew something was wrong with her son, and everyone told her it would be okay. How cruel the world can be.

Teddy's Facebook page posted this picture on Monday. I cried when I read it and cried when I texted with my friend C-Lo about Teddy. This lil boy touched so many people and we are all grieving now that he is gone for the world.

Below is what was written with the picture.

"Today is a very sad #TeddyTuesday . Yesterday the strongest Superhero around lost his yearlong battle against Menkes. It was the strength of #TeamTeddythat got Teddy's family through some of the tough days, and they will need our strength as their toughest days are yet to come. We hope you will join us in sharing this picture with your friends and family in support of both the Fish and Coffey families. We will forever love you Teddy Fish....all the way to the moon and back. Rest in peace angel baby."

*Here* is his heartbreaking obituary. My heart hurts for his parent's. I can't imagine what Alex and Mary are facing. And my heart hurts for all of the parents and children affected by Menkes. I pray a cure is found, and soon. No parent should bury their baby, ever.

If you have a minute, please say a prayer, send good vibes or good thoughts to his family. There is really nothing that can be said, to make things better. But, I believe good breeds good and the Fish family needs all the good and love they can get right now.

< 3 We love you Teddy Fish! < 3

I was really sad when I saw the news, as well. It's moments like these that make you truly appreciate what you have around you, and the people in your life, because life isn't endless.

I cried for the longest time when I saw this news yesterday. My heart is truly broken. Every time I look at my son, I think of the parents who can't look at their sweet baby any more because he's gone:( Caleb is less than a month younger than sweet Teddy was, so his story was particularly poignant for me. This is one of those things I truly just don't understand - one of the things I will ask God about one day. For now, it is comforting to know that sweet Teddy is truly flying high now above all the pain of this world! Praying for his precious parents. I have been keeping up with Mary's journal as well. Her last post nearly broke me in two - when she talked about how she wished it could be her, and how she would gladly die to give her son just one more day here. Gah. Just heartbroken.

Such a sad time for that sweet family!! I followed their story when it was first brought to our attention and to see that beautiful baby boy always smiling - it was just heartbreaking! If anything, he brought a face to the terrible disease and hopefully will be the face of change for it!! He's truly a super hero and my heart just hurts for the family and friends that were all touched by Teddy...

I've been following Teddy's story for a few months, too and when I saw the Instagram post on Monday, there was nothing I could do but cry. I can't even begin to imagine the pain his family is feeling right now. Life is SO unfair sometimes. Sending lots and lots of prayers to the Fish family.
