Guest Post: BabySpice

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope this week has been good for you so far, smile, we are one day closer to Friday. Wouldn't you know, another sissy guest post is coming your way today. That's right, today you will be graced with the presence of my youngest sister, BabySpice. She is a precious precious sister and one who has such an amazing heart. I am constantly amazed by her brains and talent too.
And come on, look at her fabulous body and dance moves!

Without further adieu, here is BabySpice!!
Spice up your life!

This is not your typical PINK-A-LICIOUS blogpost. There will be a noticeable lack of sass and sparkle (replaced with plenty of snark and spice). That's right, if you couldn't tell by the fact that none of the words in the first sentence are underlined, bolded or BOTH, this is a guest-post.  I am the one and only BabySpice with the awesome birthday post dedicated to me and man I make that cow-hat look good.

So we're on the way back from Thanksgiving visiting our Kentucky cousins and PinkySpice (hmm, I wonder if McCormick could make a PinkySpice flavor and what it would taste like? The real thing sure flavors up my life) has asked for a guest blog post.  Now, since the paper I'm writing for law school is about gender crimes in Libya and the jurisprudential steps the country should follow to prosecute the accused based on international human rights las and INternational Humanitarian Law, I figure it's time for a light-hearted break cause reading too much of such an intense topic can be draining.

So the big dilemma I have every time I sit to type a blog post…what to write about? I never can quite commit to just one topic so I end up with multiple half composed blog posts in my head that never make it to the blogosphere (a big reason that I average only 1 post per month on my own blog. But since I'm already about half-way through this post I might as well just use this as my own personal soapbox to talk about some awesome music that's out there.

I don't know if she's done it on this medium yet but Pinky likes to give me a hard time about my alternative taste in music… and then one to three years later come back and say, "Wow, you were right.  This band is pretty good."  But to her credit, I give her a hard time about listening to Britney Spears but then dance along to it when it comes on in a club.

Anyway the musical artist I've become obsessed with since I discovered him around March of this year is an Australian act Gotye (pronounced, oddly enough: "Gore-ti-yeh").  He recently (as in last night) won 6 ARIAS (like an Aussie Grammy) for his latest album Making Mirrors as well as his single "Somebody That I Used to Know" which has gone viral on YouTube and features another amazing artist from down under Kimbra.  While this album actually isn't available in the States yet (unless you buy it from his website and pay to have it shipped) you can buy his earlier album Like Drawing Blood which is fantastic as well (highlight "Your Heart's A Mess").

Anyway, before this becomes a full-fledged advertisement I'll suggest a couple other acts/songs which deserve a look on YouTube or vimeo and can help broaden your musical horizons (if nothing else, checking them out will give you a little break to your workday):

Kimbra - Two Way Street (super-talented vocalist, I also recommend the videos for Settle Down and Cameo Lover)
Dawes - When My Time Comes (out of CA, toured with Mumford and Sons, similar sound)
Apparat Organ Quartet - 1,2,3,Forever (Icelandic group of four organists and a drummer, fun
Oh Land - White Nights (Swedish former ballerina who looks like the younger sister of Heidi Klum, Molly Simms, and Gwenyth Paltrow)
The Love Language -  Heart to Tell (throwback 60s vibe)
Angus & Julia Stone - And the Boys (off their latest album Down the Way)
Sia - Clap Your Hands (a fun an crazy video for a song that's easy to jump around to)

Pinky tells me this is enough text so I'll sign off now.  But if you like these songs, check out KEXP.org or look up the station Triple J in Australia. Enjoy the tunes and the upcoming CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS!!!

Told you, she's such a smarty pants with such an weird unique taste in music. I will say she is telling the truth, I many times will enjoy a song she told me I would enjoy, but only months later. I'm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt though.

Happy Wednesday, downhill slope to Friday from here ya'll!!!
