I saw this on Rachael's blog awhile ago,
saved the idea in my drafts and planned to pull it out one day.
Today is the day kids.
Here are some of the things you'll NEVER
see me blog about.
//////----//////----//////----//////
1] The bedroom...enough said.
2] Heavy political issues. If you've read here for while, you know where I stand on a few political issues. I definitely lean a certain way and am no way ashamed for my beliefs. If asked, I'll express my opinion, but otherwise it really has no bearings on my blog.
3] My job. I can't. Plain and simple. It's nothing super secretive or anything incredibly important, but I do work with a product that can't be compromised. Plus, I don't ever want to come up in a search for my company because of a key word. That would be awkward explanation meeting with my boss.
4] A perfect house, job, picture, life. This one is an easy one. I'm not perfect, so I'm not going to pretend to be. I take 99% of my pictures with my iPhone and maybe edit them in Diptic, if I decide to take the time. This blog is about my life, how I live and who I am. Sometimes I take pictures of stupid stuff because I think it's fun. Or, I honestly want to remember that special moment, no matter what it looks like. And most of the time, it's a bit of mess, but it's my mess and I love it.
5] Fights, arguments, big relationship issues. Sometimes I want to, really, really badly. I just want to vent about the small, mundane or the big ridiculous, but I won't. 1] Because I don't EVER want anything from here to come back and haunt me [darn the internetzgooglesearch] 2] There is no reason to air my dirty laundry in this space. Yes, I experience fights, annoyances and drama, but I've made the consiouce choice to keep certain stuff [and names/people] offline.
6] More than a glimpse of my faith. God is my Father and His Son, Jesus is my Savior. I am proud to be a Christian and take it very seriously. I try to be an example to people by my actions and am more than willing to debate/discuss faith here [appropriately], but my faith is also between me and God.
7] Money and finances. My money, is my business. I'm never going to share how 'poor' or 'rich' I feel here because I just find that in poor taste. Of course you'll find me wishing for more money [because who wouldn't right?!?!]. And, I'm all about talking about budgeting, because unless you're my girl Janna, you're probably looking to budget a bit more too. But, no one needs to know what tax bracket I'm in, or how much money I spend on kickball and vacation trips.
So, do you agree/disagree with my list?
What won't you blog about?!?!
And since this post was so serious, here's a fun picture < 3
I think all of these make sense to keep closer to yourself and not air on the blog. At the end of the day, it's whatever you do and don't feel comfortable with posting about. I think you do a good job :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely #1. Um hello, my parents and in-laws and GRANDMOTHER read this blog hehe. Definitely keep things PG on my blog ;)
ReplyDeleteI love talking about our student loans, budgets, etc... but I think I walk a fine line of not sharing TOO much. I don't care if people know how much our student loans are, but I'd never talk the cost of our house, cars, salaries, etc!
Love this post!! <3
ReplyDeleteI agree with the faith thing. It's something I actually struggle with. Sometimes I wonder... am I a bad Christian because I don't really blog about my faith? But you're right, it's between God and I. I love the way you said that!
I totally agree with this whole list!!!
ReplyDeleteMost of the reasons you put are things I do blog about - HOWEVER - I'm anonymous so it's FUN! lol
ReplyDeleteI think these are all things that are good to keep close to your heart. You are right - once said, it can't be taken back, so it is good to be mindful of what we put out there. Your readers know the important things about you - your faith, your personality, etc. - and the rest is not to be shared! I LOVE that you keep it real with what you do share though. I have a hard time with bloggers who perfectly position each picture in every post (whether it's food, people, home decor - whatever!) I always wonder how they have time to go to that much trouble. And then I wonder why they bother in the first place. Nobody's perfect, so why pretend!!!:) xoxo
ReplyDeleteDefinitely smart choices! Bedroom should always be private, and so are arguments. I would never drag private things like that out there, that's what a phone and a friend are for :-)
ReplyDeleteEvery single one of those I completely agree!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more! Do people really post about #1?! My husband would kill me!
ReplyDeleteI love these posts because it gives an insight as to what bloggers think and feel without going into the topics. I feel ya!!
