Wedding Wednesday: The Dress

HELLO! And welcome to my first WEDDING WEDNESDAY POST!

YAY!!!

First up, the dress the dress the dress!

So much fun picking the DRESS!!!

I, like most brides I'm sure, LOVED the entire process of picking my wedding dress. I mean, I loved everything about it. I think a lot of it has to do with  my incredible sisters and friends that were there to make the process so much fun and enjoyable.

Since our engagement was pretty short [barely seven months] after we decided on the wedding date, venue, and church I immediately emailed my bridal party and girlfriends to get a dress date on the books. I was engaged 2/17 and I made my dress appointment for 3/9 so you can see that I didn't waste ANY TIME.

I had always envisioned myself walking down the aisle in a Kate Middletonesque dress [before there was Kate of course], and I saw that David's Bridal had a dress similar to hers online. I know some people look down on David's but I knew I wanted to try on anything and everything so David's made the best starting point.

My first wedding dress appointment was AMAZINGLY perfect and so much fun. We grabbed a TON of gowns and my dress consultant was the best lady ever. She let me try on everything and didn't even flinch when my sisters brought dresses into the dressing room. I was mega bummed David's no longer carried the dress I envisioned wearing, but I didn't let that deter me from finding the one. Below are some of the fun options we found.
Every dress possible!!!!
The David's appointment was a blast and I was told I had found 'the one' but I wasn't 100% sold without going somewhere else. A high school friend opened up a designer consignment and bridal shop earlier that year so I called and made an appointment. I wanted to support her and went to try on some high end designer dresses for fun and actually liked two very much. Both were within my budget and kind of complicated my thought process regarding 'the one'.
LOVED the lace look/fit of the dress on the left
and ADORED the fun and swishyness of the dress on the right
I spent a few weeks thinking about the David's Bridal dress and the lacy dress from the boutique. I had a second bridal dress day where I tried both on and that day kneeeewww which dress I had to wear to walk down the aisle. Crazy that it was one of the dresses I tried on the first day, but so awesome that in just one month I had found my WEDDING DRESS!

THE ONEEEEE!!!
WINNER WINNER!
My dress was a lacy fit and flare withe sequins and flower embellishments. If someone had told me a year ago I would wear flowers on my wedding day I would have laughed in their face. But, the flowers on my dress were perfectly whimsical and me and I am SO IN LOVE with how I looked the dress. I felt glamourous, sophisticated, sexy, and beautiful, which was exactly how I imagined feeling on my wedding day.

Below are some of my favorite pictures showcasing my beautiful dress. You'll see more in other posts though, don't worry ;)!

I loved the beautiful details on the bust line.

The dress on Wedding Day!

I adore the silhouette! Perfect dress and Le husband loved it!

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh, now I want to wear my dress again. I LOVE IT SO! I will definitely do whatever I can to convince C to let me wear it again in a year :)!

  1. Your dress was so pretty! Isn't it fun how your expectations and thoughts about what you will and absolutely won't wear change when you find the right dress for you? Your dress turned out beautiful and was perfect for you :)

  2. Your dress is really pretty :) Mine is similar to the other lace one you tried on except mine has more "poof" on the bottom. I pick it up this Friday!! I also liked the fun, ruffled skirts on some dresses I tried. I also tried on a LOT! Probably 20-25.

  3. Your dress is gorgeous! I know exactly how you feel about David's. It was such a great experience for me, too! I think every bride should go there first because they treat you well and you can try on, quite literally, every style under the sun to know what works and what doesn't! You look so lovely in all of them that I'm not surprised it took you a while to decide! Great choice! Welcome to the linkup! Can't wait to read more about your special day! :)

  17. You picked THE perfect dress, and I loved everything about it! I actually got my dress on a day that my best friend and I were just walking around Bloomingdales. She spotted it, begged me to try it on, and when a little girl said "Look mommy, a princess." I knew I had to have it, haha. Maybe one day I'll actually wear it.
