Dream A Little Dream of My Home

You won't be shocked to learn that even though I don't have my own home, I have many a dream board [here on pinterest] and color scheme in my brain. Even though Les Husband and I are waiting to figure out where we will be moving, we will sometimes peruse homes online and dream of making one of them ours.

My color palette for our home changes quite frequently [shocker] and right now I am all about the rustic, whimsy, chic look, while including lots of exposed wood. I've been on an exposed beams kick for awhile and love checking out home decor that plays off that feel. Below is one of my most recent dream boards and it is everything I could dream for my one day home. Combining the masculinity of the wood and the femininity of the colors really set my heart a flutter.

light house and homeI am so incredibly sad this rug is sold out, isn't the pattern and color amazing? The detailing in this pillow [sold out, wah] is a bit feminine for Le Husband but I think it's a great contrast to the strong lines of this gorgeous Ralph Lauren accent table. I would be so happy every morning if I could snuggle up in this lovely chair with a cup of coffee resting on the nearby side table [on a coaster of course]. For me, this whole look was inspired by the strong beams of  Bellescape's gorgeous mirror. I'd have no problem checking my reflection in it every day, would you?

What are your home decor dreams right now? Anything trending in your neck of the woods? How did you pick out your theme for your home? What didn't work?

  1. Mine was very easy to decorate. I love Pier 1 stores and that's it, I purchased many things from there over the years. Seems like it is never outdated. I'm lucky in the fact that my kids are grown so having a little less "children practical" things is sweet. Pretty things you picked. Have fun, it is a never ending thing decorating your home. 2. Your inspiration reminds me of a french chateau - I love it!! We don't own a home yet and I totally have a board with probably more pins than I should LOL! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  3. i suck at decorating; my husband did all of it. he has a nack for picking out great colors/themes/decor and all i do is complain about the price. when he wanted to paint our office grey with a charcoal accent wall, i said it was going to look terrible but it looks amazing. now i just STFU about decorating the house because he's usually right about stuff like that.

  5. Im a horrible decorator so I use Pinterest all the time to "decorate" my house. We own our townhouse now but I never really got super into decorating it since I knew it was our starter home but I cant wait to decorate our long term home! Love all your neutrals!

  6. EEK! It's so fun to think about dream homes. For me, I don't think about decorating yet, just about what I want in a house; certain rooms, sizes, etc.

  11. Love it all!! I think that's my biggest problem with decorating - I really like everything I see online... I need to narrow down my specific style. That rug is fabulous, fingers crossed it comes back in stock for when you do have your own place!

  12. Loving all of the neutral colors you selected! We're getting ready to redo our spare room which will be my little guys new room after the baby gets here. We are also thinking about redoing our master bedroom. We use Pinterest a lot for inspiration and then several random pop-ins to Homegoods, TJMaxx, etc because their inventory changes all the time. ~Sierra Winks and Eyerolls

  15. Thank you for sharing at Waiting on...Wednesday! I really stink at decorating so it's always fun to see how others pull things together! I can re-create just about anything but absolutely zero original thoughts in my head! Have a super day and I hope you'll be back next week!

  16. My husband and I both dream of getting a slightly larger home to accommodate the extra body living there now (daughter). I love looking at houses and other people's houses (because I'm nosy like that) because sometimes I get inspiration from how other houses look for how to decorate ours.

  21. The rustic look is so pretty but it's not something i've yet to explore with home decor. The exposed wood look is cute for mirrors to accent the walls!

  26. I love your neutral choices; then you get to have fun with paint and all the "extras". It will be even more fun to make this a reality some day (and hope it's soon!) :)

  27. I love your picks here!!! I am all about some exposed wood and natural looking stuff too. This reminds me of french cottage chic which I love! I have lived in our house for almost 3 years and still dont have a theme or have it decorated much. Our furniture doesnt go with what I want to do so I just keep putting it off until we buy another house or something hahaha. We only planned to stay in our current about 5 years.

  29. Love every bit of this!!
Also, I think it's funny that you made the comment about sitting a drink on the side table (on a coaster) because I always gripe at Jacob for not putting his drink on a coaster and repeat my mom's favorite quote from my childhood "no wet on wood." hahahaha I also heard "no plopping on the couch" a lot too.
