Dear People In Charge

MAKE

BETTER

DECISIONS!!!

It snowed in northern Virginia today and it was only 2 inches. No big deal, right?!?!

WRONG!

VDOT screwed the pooch and didn't treat the roads, nor did they plow them.

So, my 35 minute commute became a 2 hour commute.

Oh and all schools in the area are still open.

Yeah, that's stupid, too.

I'm so angry and annoyed at those that make big decisions.

The new super intendent should be relieved and all of the supervisors at VDOT should be fired, too.

People are in ditches, kids are riding unsafe school buses and traffic is a mess.

BE BETTER!

  1. The south doesn't know how to handle the snow that is for sure! Stay safe girl!

  2. Don't you hate when slow people and snow make your morning commute 10x longer than it needs to be?! Ugh.

  3. Wow that's terrible! If it snowed in Florida we would (and did, that one time) just shut the whole city down.

  4. This sounds familiar....like what happened in Georgia and Alabama last winter and we got a lot of heat about it. Bottom line, no one can drive on ice and all states should be prepared to handle this situation whether they are used to it or not!!! I hope that your school kids are stuck over night like they were here!! Stay safe!

  5. Oh my gosh, I hate that! People in Dallas don't know how to handle snow/ice either. Stay safe!

  6. That's frustrating! I don't mind driving in the snow when I am home in Maine, since the roads are fairly well cared for and prepped for snow. However driving in the snow in Virginia while I am at school freaks me out because the quality of road prepping/snow removal is not nearly as good as in Maine. I hope your commute home is much better tonight!

  8. Yikes! That's terrible! We got our first snow last night too, but luckily the plows were on top of it. Over the weekend we had a bad ice storm and they were not so on top of that one..it was a huge mess

  11. This makes me a giggle a little bit, only because when I lived in Delaware they were always either under prepared or waaaay over prepared for snow! People would absolutely freak out over a few flurries. Roads not being plowed is so frustrating though...hope you survived!

  12. Somehow I missed this post! This happened here in GA last year, and people were literally stranded for hours (some were stuck at places like school and work overnight!) And a lot of it was because the people in charge made a mistake and didn't take precautions in time. Glad you're ok, sweet girl. And as frustrating as that must have been, glad you were able to get home!!!

  15. Oh Virginia and your crazy behaviors with the slightest bit of snow! haha When I lived in Virginia I used to love snow because as a teacher I wanted to get off school, but I can see how frustrating your commute must have been!

  16. Oh man that would suck!! Although, that's why I drove a 4x4 truck in Colorado. I just went around all the slow/stuck people ;) Although, you probably have more traffic than I did. Sorry boo!
