Say Oscar

I'm not a fashion blogger and I'm not trying to be today.

I just really enjoyed the fashion at this year's Oscars.

And yes, I know, most ladies had their list out yesterday,
but ummm, I had to recap my weekend first hokay?

Here are the ladies that made it on my Best Dressed list.

********************************

Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab: I'm not usually a Jolie fan, but she looked so smashing on Sunday night. Even though she was completely covered she oozed sensualitiy and class. I love the fact she kept her hair down and flowy too. I'm also a sucker for anything sparkly.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior: This girl just can't do anything wrong. She tumbles at the Oscar's TWICE, but still looks amazing. The red is a gorgeous color on her and the lower peplum is so fresh. The tousled hair looks fabulous with the slinky line of diamonds, as does her simple makeup. I may  not be interested in her Hunger Game movies, but I still think we should be best friends :)!

Lupita Nyong'o in Prada: Not only is the color, cut, and fabric perfection, the fact that Lupita collaborated with Prada on this dress is just incredible. She hasn't rocked a princess-esque gown yet during the awards season and Sunday's Oscars was the perfect show for a princess dress. She spoke about how the color blue reminded her of home and that it helped her feel calm, how sweet. Congrats on the win, Lupita!
Charlize Theron in Dior: This was a dress people either hated or loved and I adored it. Charlize honestly can do no wrong, she'd look amazing in paper sack right? I loved how the dress hugged her curves and I thought the 'disappearing' straps were quite unique and fun. Hair and makeup were also flawless in my opinion and can we talk about that rock around her neck, yowza!

Camilla Alves in Gabriela Cadena: I loved everything about Mrs. McConaughey's dress. The color, the cut and the half cape was perfection. Many people would have been swallowed up by the extra fabric, but she completely WORE the dress. Some people thought she should have brightened up her makeup a bit, but I think the neutral look was the correct way to go.

Cate Blanchette in Armani: I'll be honest, when I first saw this dress on the red carpet I thought GROSS! But, the more and more I saw her walking in it and the more I saw it in pictures I found it growing on me. The swishy bottom looked amazing when she walked and I loved how the sparkles caught the light. I would have liked to see a brighter lip, but that's just me.

Sandra Bullock Alexander McQueen: Good old Sandy can just do no wrong. The draping was gorgeous, the color on her was smashing and her hair was so FUN! I love Sandy, the end.

Crissy Teigen in Monique Lhullier: I don't drink the Crissy Teigen koolaid that most girls are on, but I just loved this unique dress. It was really refreshing to see this bombshell in something other than "skintightseksikitten". Her dress just makes me think SPRING, warmth, fun and pretty. Well done SI covergirl, well done.

***KATE HUDSON in Versace*** This was HANDS down my favorite dress of the night. The color, cut, plunging neckline, cape-esque sleeves and the open back were just PERFECTION! I can't recall the last movie Kate was in, but if she keeps dressing like this she needs to be at every awards ceremony. Beautiful, just beautiful.

  1. I agree with you on all these. I love a perfectly draped gown. I also love a plunging neckline a la Lupita! I think that blue on her skin tone was ravishing!

  3. There was definitely some fashion fails this year but it was so hard to pick a favorite because there were so many wonderful looks this year. Every time someone knew would walk by on the red carpet all I could say was, "omg that's so pretty!"

  5. Yessss! Kate Hudson, Sandra Bullock and Angelina Jolie were my faves! Although I really thought everyone looked amazing, there weren't too many "misses" this year.

  8. I totally agree with everything you just wrote! EXCEPT I wish J Law had done a little more glamorous makeup. I feel like her face was "hidden". :)

  9. Of these dresses, Cate Blanchette's is hands down by far my favorite, simply WOW!! Sandra Bullock's dress is beautiful but "safe". Crissy Teigen's dress would have looked better at tea lenth and without the train I think, then I'd want to have it, too :-) Missed the Oscars because they are on at 3am here or so, so thanks for re-capping the dresses, Pinky :-)

  11. Angelina looked beautiful - she was just glowing all night long. And Lupita's dress was amazing. You could tell it was custom made for her, as it fit her body perfectly. Not many people could pull that dress off without looking like a hoochee mama, but Lupita - with her athletic build and smaller chest - wore it perfectly!:)Charlize's (surprisingly) was my least favorite. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the Oscars fashion this year. Everyone looked fabulous!
